The house

  1. 1964

    Frank Searson

Est. 1964. Frank Searson was the first to bring Bordeaux to Ireland en primeur, in barrel, to be bottled in Portobello. Burgundy followed the same way.

  2. 1961

    En primeur

Searsons were the first in Ireland to offer wine en primeur. The habit of buying futures, and of waiting, started here.

  3. 1977

    The Crescent

The shop on Monkstown Crescent opens. Searsons was founded in 1964, and is still family owned. The Tindals are at the helm now.

Who you will meet

Buyer

Harriet Tindal MW

Harriet is one of 419 Masters of Wine. She buys, finds new wines, and builds our fine-wine stocks.

Manager

Jeff Corbett

He keeps the floor steady: new wines, a clear head, and an easy manner when the shop is full.

Wine adviser

Paul Drummond

The thoughtful recommendation. If you describe the table, he will find the bottle without making a performance of it.

Sustainability is not a slogan here. The shop buys from growers it visits, and it stays with them when a frost or a drought takes the crop. Wine is a fragile thing. The good bottles reward the people who wait.
